DelphiNews July 2015

I’m pleased to enclose the latest edition of DelphiNews.

Financial Year to 30 June 2015

Despite a range of economic and market challenges during the year, markets have delivered good returns, especially for global shares and Australian listed property investors. Annual Statements for investors will be forwarded over the next few weeks, which will provide further commentary and individual performance for each Portfolio.

Market Update

This month the Greece debt crisis had dominated world economic news, impacting global equity markets, whilst China’s Shanghai Composition Index was down 25% in June – but up 150% on an annual basis.

In the United States the economic recovery has continued with manufacturing data continuing to improve in June.

At home, once again the Reserve Bank of Australia has kept interest rates on hold at 2% at the July meeting.

Economic Update

In the latest update, John Owen, Portfolio Specialist at MLC, reviews events in Australian and Overseas markets during June. John notes concerns that Greece would default on its end of month loan repayment to the International Monetary Fund, and possibly leave the eurozone, unsettled markets in June.
